Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how VCycene Inc. ("VCycene," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Lovely app and your Lila composting device (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your first and last name, email address, the serial number of your Lila device, and your mailing-list preference.

Device and sensor data. Your Lila device reports operational data to the Service, including temperature, humidity, and pressure readings from its sensors, electrical current (power) readings, chamber open and close events, and firmware update acceptances.

Push notification data. If you enable notifications, we store the push subscription your browser provides (an endpoint address and the keys needed to deliver messages to your device).

Chatbot messages. When you use the in-app "Ask Lovely" assistant, the messages you send and limited machine context are processed to generate a response (see "How We Share Your Information").

Diagnostic data. We collect error and crash diagnostics to keep the Service reliable.

We do not collect special categories of sensitive personal information, and we ask that you not enter such information into the chatbot.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service and your device.
  • Display your device's status, history, and alerts.
  • Send you notifications you have enabled and, if you opted in, mailing-list updates.
  • Power the in-app assistant.
  • Diagnose problems, improve the Service, and ensure security.
  • Comply with our legal obligations.

Our legal basis for processing is your consent, which you provide when you create an account, and our legitimate interest in operating and securing the Service.

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us operate the Service, and only as needed:

  • Supabase: database hosting and authentication.
  • Anthropic (Claude API): processes your chatbot messages to generate replies. Messages sent to the assistant are not used to train models, consistent with Anthropic's commercial terms.
  • Google Cloud: hosting for our backend services.
  • Shopify: our online storefront, if you purchase from us.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or VCycene.

Cross-Border Data Transfers

We operate in Canada and serve customers in Canada and the United States. Your information may be stored or processed in either country by us or our service providers. Where information crosses borders, it remains protected by this Policy and applicable law.

Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. Device and sensor records may be retained to show history and trends, and may be pruned over time. We retain consent records for as long as required to meet our legal and audit obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

Security

We use administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, including access controls and encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Privacy Rights

Canada (PIPEDA). You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and withdraw your consent (subject to legal or contractual limits). To exercise these rights, contact us at support@virgohome.io.

California (CCPA). If you are a California resident, you may request to know what personal information we have collected about you, request its deletion, and request correction. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, contact us at support@virgohome.io.

We will verify your request against your account before responding.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and similar local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. These are necessary for the Service to function.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and post the updated Policy in the app.
